What a UV checker shows

A UV checker texture shows how a model’s UV layout maps onto its surface. Cells that stay square mean even scale; stretched, squashed or differently sized cells point to distortion or uneven texel density between parts.

In the color grid, letters count columns from the left (U) and numbers count rows from the bottom (V), so A1 sits at the UV origin. A label that reads mirrored on the model means its UV island is flipped.

How to use it

  1. Pick the resolution you plan to ship, so a cell’s size in pixels matches your texel density.
  2. Download the PNG and assign it as the base color texture of a temporary material in Blender, Maya or your engine.
  3. Look for stretched or skewed cells, cells of different size on neighboring parts, mirrored labels and seams where the pattern jumps.

The texture is drawn on a canvas in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Use it freely in any project.
